Presentation description
This study reconstructs fire history at the Bear River Massacre site in southeastern Idaho using charcoal analysis from a wetland sediment core at North Spring. Preliminary results show low variation in charcoal with a peak at 270 cal yr BP, suggesting a fire event, followed by decreased activity likely due to fire suppression. This work supports restoration efforts by the Northwest Band of the Shoshone Nation.
