Chiral enantiomers can have different biological effects, motivating their separation when producing pharmaceuticals. Crystallization is a simple method of separating enantiomers. However, the majority of racemic mixtures form racemic crystals rather than enantiopure crystals. Molecular dynamics simulations may reveal the microscopic mechanisms that dictate the crystallization of chiral molecules.
