Poster 44: Miriam Vail – Investigating the Effects of MircoRNA-92a on Neointimal Hyperplasia Development in Arteriovenous Fistulae

Arteriovenous Fistulae are the preferred form of vascular access used to help those on dialysis. Despite this, 60% of these fistulae fail to mature as a result of excessive hyperplasia growth. This research investigates a particular microRNA that could be contributing to the failure of fistulae by increasing hyperplasia areas. This research also examined if this microRNA was accomplishing this as a result of its effect on collagen.
