Poster 94: Megan Lewis – Translational Regulation of E2F1 in Cancer

Cancer develops when the cellular mechanisms controlling growth and proliferation malfunction. The transcription factor, E2F1, is a known mediator of the cell cycle. E2F1 is regulated post transcriptionally, though the precise mechanism is unknown. This study quantified proliferation in D. melanogaster midguts in response to the knockdown of several growth regulating genes in combination with two forms of E2F1.
