The purpose of this research project was to investigate hospital acquired bloodstream infections, in pediatric patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). This specific patient population have a significant risk for developing CLABSIs due to their extended use of central venous catheters. Understanding characteristics of children who develop CLABSIs, monitoring causative organisms, and tracking changes in CLABSIs will help refine strategies to reduce these infections.
