Faculty mentor: Gretchen Case
Advances in early diagnosis and intervention have given clinicians the responsibility of communicating the results of genetic disease screenings. I am part of a team assessing an intervention designed to improve medical learners interpersonal communication skills when delivering this type of difficult news. My role in the project was to help refine a coding tool and help achieve inter-rater reliability in the coding of medical student’s communication skills in a simulated clinical interaction.
