Research Position Studying New Strategies for the Treatment of Asthma

Faculty Mentor: Kristi Warren
Title: Assistant Professor
College: Medicine
School / Department: Internal Medicine

Project description

My laboratory investigates the role that sex hormone play in how asthma develops differently in males versus females. Females tend to have worse asthma than men and we previously showed that estrogen and progesterone have effects in the exacerbation of asthma symptoms. We are launching into our next studies in the Fall of 2025 where we balance mechanistic in vitro and mouse modeling against clinical recruitment of asthmatics followed by a full immune phenotyping of those individuals (males and females comparatively). Our ultimate goal is to find new strategies for the treatment of asthma but we are still laying the groundwork with the current work.
