Volunteer Research Associate Opportunity with Emergency Medicine

Project description

Seeking pre-health professional students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher for a Volunteer Research Assistant position in the Emergency Department at the University of Utah. This program offers training in clinical research and data collection. Students will commit to a weekly 4-hour shift screening and enrolling ED participants for research, collecting data for ongoing studies, and directly interacting with patients. There is also an option to take the course for credit: H EDU 5900.

Student Role: This program aims to impart the fundamentals of clinical research and data collection to enthusiastic students and volunteers. As an RA, your primary responsibilities will include identifying (screening), enrolling participants, and collecting data for ongoing studies conducted in the ED. This position involves direct interaction with participants in the ED, providing valuable patient-facing experience. RAs will ensure that all required paperwork and data collection meet the specific requirements of each study. RAs will also be responsible for completing several research assignments, attending some lectures, orientations, and trainings sessions all within their weekly 4 hour shift.
