Student will work closely with a talented graduate student who studies how brown adipocytes regulate metabolism. We found a new pathway that regulates glucose metabolism in brown adipocytes. Our lab uses cell biology, molecular biology, and mouse genetics to study transcriptional control of metabolism.
Volunteer; This is a work-study research position; Prepare a UROP proposal; Write an Honors Thesis; Earn independent study credit
Cell culture, RNA isolation, DNA isolation, Western Blots, real-time PCR, mouse handling
Learn new techniques and receive training in metabolism and diabetes research. Students will learn about molecular biology, metabolism, and cell biology.
Project can last up to a year. There will be an expected 15-20 hrs per week.
Motivated, self starter, fast learner, interest in post graduate education (grad school or medicine)
