Project Description:

The Division of Emergency Medicine is recruiting and training pre-health professional students to become Research Associates (RA) in the Emergency Department at the University of Utah under the direction of Troy Madsen, MD (principal investigator) and Marina Griffith (research coordinator and RA program coordinator). The program will teach the fundamentals of clinical research and data collection to interested students and volunteers.

Student Role:

The primary responsibilities of the RA will be the identification (screening), enrollment and data collection for ongoing studies being conducted in the Emergency Department.

Hands-on experience with clinical research and patient interaction. Shadowing opportunities with the ED staff. Opportunities to receive letters of recommendation from ED staff


Project Duration:

RA's will work a total of 4 hours per week with a few required training meetings throughout the semester.
