Project Description:

Information systems is a fast-paced dynamic area of study. We study online markets and platforms including market mechanisms, consumer behaviors, market frictions/ asymmetries and solutions to them, incentives, recommendations, among other things. If you are interested in data analytics and data based decision making in technology supported markets, this would be a good fit. Think Amazon, Google, search engines, Netflix algorithms, crowdsourcing (Wikipedia, Mechanical Turk), crowdfunding (Kickstarter), text analytics.

Opportunity Type:

Prepare a UROP proposal; Write an Honors Thesis; Earn independent study credit

Student Role:

Students will learn and use statistics and data mining methodologies to gain usable insights from data. Students will need to know or learn some programming skills, R/Python
