Project Description:

Functional MRI (fMRI) is a neuroimaging procedure for measuring brain activity. Networks based on fMRI data are often used for investigating brain structures associated with different populations groups, such as, healthy and pathological. The visualization of fMRI network ensembles is challenging due to the complexity arising from the size of brain networks. The goal of this research is to develop a visualization that makes it easier to gain insights about structure and variability in brain fMRI network ensembles.

Student Role:

Assist in 1) carrying out literature survey, and 2) developing a prototype visualization tool.


Student Benefits:

Software development experience in building interactive visualizations. Research experience in designing new network visualization methods. Possible authorship.


Project Duration:

Project scope,duration and hours per week is flexible and based on availability and interest of the student.


Minimum Requirements:

Some programming experience in any language. Knowledge of Python/Javascript is a plus.
