Poster #70: Olivia Haddadin – Species Differences in Retinal Aii Connectivity

Research was conducted to identify differences between mouse and rabbit Aii cell output. The Aii cell is unique to mammals and allows signals from rod photoreceptors to utilize the same pathway as signals from cone photoreceptors when traveling to the brain. The two types of Aii output analyzed were gap junctions and conventional synapses. Each was then assessed further by identifying the cell they communicated with. Results indicate species differences in retinal Aii connectivity.
