Heart Failure is one of the leading causes of death in the world. Oxidative stress has shown to be a risk factor due to the impairment of anti-oxidant activity and disruption of redox homeostasis. The p62 protein has shown to play a role in upregulating anti-oxidant activity via the Nrf2/KEAP1 pathway. However, very little is known about it’s role in the heart. We aimed to delineate the possible beneficial role of p62 in modulating redox cardiac/redox homeostasis in the heart.
