Hepatic stellate cells (HSCs)are an important component to human liver development, regeneration, and tumorigenesis. But many molecular factors required for their migration are not well understood. This research offers to track HSC migration during liver development using live imaging in zebrafish. I will test the hypothesis that HSCs follow a predictable migration pattern. This will provide a foundation for follow-up experiments to determine details on how HSCs move.
