Faculty mentor: Erin Castro
Colleges attempt to diversify their campuses by using students of color as tokens on marketing materials to enroll prospective students of color. The issue is that many students of color see others who look like them postered around campus more often than in their actual classes. My project shows that although marketing racial minorities can diversify a student body, these students consequently face unintentional challenges that negatively influence their educational experiences.
